Forest Veterinary Centre
The project involved extending and fitting out an existing steel-framed, cladded unit to create a new veterinary practice. The works included:
• Drainage, electrical and plumbing installations
• Provision of a platform lift
• The hygienic specification fit-out and finishes
The extension was constructed from multiple skins of block work to form the hot ward and disposal/storage areas.
The Trespa worktops, cat podium, dog ward surrounds and reception desk were manufactured in our joinery workshop.

Pawra
The project consisted of the fit-out of an existing retail showroom for animal wellness functions and support facility purpose. The existing building was a vacant ground floor unit of approximately 390m2 and was in good order.
The works were carried out over 2 phases – enabling and fit-out – This approach was taken to enable planning matters to be resolved and allow the acousticians access to develop the required designs. During the fit-out phase of the works, the following works were undertaken:
· Internal walls & Ceilings
· Acoustic ceiling treatments
· Floor preparation and associated finishes
· Decoration
· Hygienic wall cladding
· Mechanical, Electrical & Plumbing installations
· Joinery manufacture and installation
· Specialist joinery manufacture – Booths,Banquette Seating, Podiums, Reception Desks
· Specialist installations - Hydrotherapy treadmill units and dog grooming equipment.
Hull Maritime Museum
Simpson completed the restoration and reordering of the Grade II Listed Hull Maritime Museum and creation of a new collections store within the 3-storey Dock Office. The project is part of the wider Hull: Yorkshire’s Maritime City Master Redevelopment Plan, funded by Hull City Council and The Heritage Lottery fund.
The project has seen the creation of a central glass atrium which is open for all visitors, along with access to one of the cupola’s which showcases the panoramic rooftop views across the city.
As part of the project, new mechanical and electrical services were installed. To protect the historic fabric of the building, including its limestone walls and vaulted ceilings, the new services were installed within the duct runs in the floor.
Significant roofing repair and replacement was required. Scaffolding was installed to all 3 elevations and inspections of stonework were conducted. All elevations were DOFF cleaned and defective stonework repaired and replaced. While external repairs progressed, further scaffold was erected to the 3 cupolas and scaffold truss beams spanned the full roof area to provide a watertight cover. The lead was removed from each cupola and defective timber fully repaired or replaced, before installing the repurposed lead.
Recognising the museum’s cultural significance to the people of Hull, we embedded social value into the construction process. This included creating apprenticeships, offering work placements, hosting site visits, employing local labour, and making charitable donations.
Roberts Mart
The works at Roberts Mart comprised of a single storey factory extension to the western side of the existing facility, as well as a small extension to the ink store to the east. The extension accommodated an expansion of the production and storage capacity of the site.
The extension west has a footprint of approximately 47.5 m x 112.8 m and elevates to a height to follow the existing building. The extension provides approximately 5,160 sqm of floor space.
The extension was constructed of materials matching the existing building which includes low level brickwork. cladding panels, profiled roof cladding and glazing.
The small extension to the East of the building involved the demolition of an existing wall, to allow for the erection of new external walls and roof construction to the height of the the existing to complete the enlargement of the ink store adding an additional 253 sqm. The existing roof and surface drainage provisions was removed and replaced. A newly installed floor gully provides a new drainage system connecting back to existing SVP. The project also included the western expansion of the main car park which increased operating facilities by an extra 40 spaces.
