Simpson Supports Local Teams
It was a great week for local sports last week, with a fantastic night being had on Wednesday supporting York City Football Club against their rivals Hartlepool. It was great to see so many employees there and some of our clients came along to join us too. The game kept us on our toes the whole night but York finally secured the win with a last minute penalty, full time score York 3 - 2 Hartlepool.
We also continue our support for York Knights who at the end of the 2025 season were promoted to the ‘Super League’.
For the 2026 seaon we are sponsoring half back Danny Richardson.
Danny, who joined York Knights in August 2025 on loan from Hull KR has now signed a permanent contract with the Knights for 2026 and we are proud to sponsor him.
Thursday saw the opening match to the 2026 Super League season with York Knights taking on the current Super league Champions Hull KR.
It was just the start to the season York Knights could wish for with the full time result, York Knights 19 - 18 Hull KR.
A huge congratulations to the whole team, we can't wait to see how the rest of the season unfolds.

The works included new wall layouts, an upgraded sprinkler system, refreshed lighting and ceilings, and a fully branded shopfront built to the Bath & Body Works specification, complete with detailed tiling. New joinery and internal signage were also installed to bring the brand to life.
The store is now fully open, with even the iconic Bullring Bull dressed in Bath & Body Works attire to celebrate the launch. Another successful project delivered by Simpson.

Featuring latest design, energy-efficient standards, and advanced operational features, this store represents the very best of Sainsbury’s retail experience.

Centre of Excellence takes home the win
Last night’s NFB Construction Awards of Excellence in Birmingham brought a fantastic moment of pride for Simpson. Two of our projects were shortlisted: Hull Maritime Museum—recognised in both the Remarkable Restoration and Renovation and Heritage and Conservation Project categories—and the Centre of Excellence, shortlisted for Excellence in Educational Building.
While Hull Maritime Museum narrowly missed out, we are thrilled to announce that the Centre of Excellence was named the winner of Excellence in Educational Building.
This project represents something truly special: a world‑class hub for heritage craft skills, supporting research, training, and the future of traditional craftsmanship. Being part of its journey has been a privilege.
Congratulations to everyone who helped bring this award‑winning project to life.

Bradford Arts Centre is now open
Formally known as ‘Kala Sangam’, Simpson have completed the redevelopment of the newly named ‘Bradford Arts Centre’. With works starting in April 2024 and Practical Completion being given 3rd October 2025, the 75 week program has seen an extensive reconfiguration and upgrade to the existing building facilities creating a state-of-the-art, fully accessible space for artists, audiences and businesses, reconnecting the building and arts centre to the local community.
The project has seen the creation of a new theatre, five dance studios, a new central staircase and a permanent home for volunteer-led community radio station Bradford Community Broadcasting (BCB).
The introduction of a new entrance, two new lifts and a dedicated changing place facility now ensures the building is fully accessible for the first time in its 140-year history.
