Our Amanda Davidson attended the York College Speed Interviewing session this week, where local employers were on hand to offer 65 construction students the opportunity to gain valuable interviewing experience.

The students were engaged, prepared and genuiely impressive. Huge credit to the college team for arranging such a well-managed and meaningful event. Its inspiring to see young people stepping confidently toward their future career.

The RIBA Yorkshire Awards 2026 took place this week, and we’re proud to share that both the Heritage Quad and Technology projects came home with multiple wins:

Last year, with the support of one of our suppliers, we were able to donate timber to Hassacarr Nature Reserve.That timber has now been transformed into a beautiful new footbridge for visitors to enjoy. It’s fantastic to see how a simple contribution can help enhance a much‑loved local space, and we’re proud to have played a small part in improving access to the reserve for the whole community.

Simpson are proud to see the new Sainsbury's store in Sutton Coldfield officially open its doors yesterday — and what a transformation it is. By no means, a straight forward fit-out. The former Homebase unit was in a heavily dilapidated condition, requiring extensive demolition and major infrastructure upgrade works all delivered within a challenging 16-week programme. Yesterday’s opening proved exactly what the team at Simpson are capable of. The finished store is a complete transformation, with all who have been on this journey genuinely impressed with what’s been achieved. A big thank you to Sainsbury’s for their continued trust and collaboration, and to all Simpson subcontractors and partners who played a key role in delivering this project..A huge credit to everyone involved.

Becky and Amanda have been working closely with City of York Council, York Construction Skills Partnership, and NYBEP to support careers education, with a particular focus on highlighting the wide range of opportunities that construction offers.

As part of this focus we continue to offer our support to Danesgate School, a special educational school in York, we were partnered with through the Construction Connect Initiative. Since becoming involved, we’ve supported a variety of events, and other activities that bring students together with industry professionals, helping them build confidence and develop new skills. More recently Becky and Amanda attended a careers session, offering help and advise to the students.

We are pleased to announce that the Centre of Excellence has been awarded the RIBAJ MacEwan Award 2026, and has also been shortlisted for the RIBA Yorkshire Award. Congratulations to all involved.
